The political scene in our nation is a shit show. Whether you're on the right, the left or the middle chances are you're frequently unhappy with something that is going on. On top of that, the pandemic further divided us, with controversies over masking, vaccines, who to believe, who "caused" it and so on.

Even after the pandemic, it has remained challenging for us to come together, as social distancing also led to the rewiring of our brains to be more accustomed to being alone or with a smaller social group, rather than our normal work teams and social connections. We need to change that.

Well, the pandemic is behind us (I hope!) we've had 10 years or so of increasing division, and as the saying goes nothing is going to get better unless we do something different than what got us to this point. Inspired by the Mingle movement championed by political and social commentator Michael Smerconish, small groups of people all over the country are coming together regularly to engage in civil conversations with each other. You can see the list of meetups here.

For most of my professional career and especially after starting my own business in 2007, I have been involved in organizing and holding events in my local community. One of my signature beliefs, however, is that I don't like events – I like relationships. But I recognize that events are important to serve as both sparks for relationships as well as high points for relationships.

With that said, I hope you will join us either for Mingle Day on October 25, 2025, for our regular monthly meetup (more info here), or both!

I will close by saying that the most meaningful personal and professional relationships in my life can all be linked to getting out of my comfort zone and putting myself out there to connect with others. I look forward to connecting with you, too!
